The General Secretariat of the Cairo Summit for Creativity and Impact has announced the selection of former Kirkuk Governor Rebwar Taha as Iraq’s Best Governor for 2025.
The award was announced as part of the summit’s annual recognition of the most influential figures and institutions, which will be honoured during its upcoming session.
According to the General Secretariat, Taha was selected following a comprehensive professional assessment of his administration of Kirkuk Governorate. The evaluation highlighted his success in presenting a distinctive model of governance based on moderation, balance and inclusivity.
The summit noted that Taha has effectively managed Kirkuk’s ethnic and social diversity, which includes Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and Christians, while avoiding political and ethnic bias and prioritising civil peace and social stability.
The organising committee said its decision was based on five key criteria, including the adoption of a balanced approach towards all components of Kirkuk society, the promotion of governance that serves all citizens, the delivery of public services free from political disputes, and his contribution to easing tensions and strengthening local stability.
The committee also cited efforts to enhance public confidence in government institutions through improvements in public services and administrative performance.
The Cairo Summit for Creativity and Impact is a leading Arab platform that recognises outstanding achievements in governance, development and media. The event attracts broad regional and international participation from prominent figures and institutions across Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia and Oman.
