Harem Kamal Agha, head of the PUK parliamentary bloc.
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc in the Iraqi parliament has called for kerosene supplies to be allocated to the governorates of the Kurdistan Region to help residents cope with a severe cold wave, particularly in mountainous areas where temperatures have dropped significantly.
In an official letter addressed to the Speaker of the Iraqi parliament, a copy of which was obtained by PUKMEDIA, bloc head Harem Kamal Agha urged the Ministry of Oil to supply the Region’s governorates with kerosene according to their needs.
The letter proposed allocating 110 million litres to Sulaymaniyah and Halabja governorates and 140 million litres to Erbil and Duhok.
Agha stressed that providing the requested quantities would help ease the hardship faced by residents and allow daily life to continue as normally as possible amid the harsh weather conditions.
He called for the request to be approved and the necessary directives to be issued to the Ministry of Oil to ensure that each governorate receives its required allocation.
