Qubad Talabani meets with a Senate delegation from the U.S. in Erbil
Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with a delegation from the U.S. Senate to discuss the internal situation of the region as well as ways to advance institutional changes.
The meeting, which took place in Erbil, focused on the Kurdistan Regional Government's digitizing of its institutions, which has been a continuing, more than 8-year process.
Qubad Talabani highlighted the phases of biometric registration, service projects, income transparency, digitizing company registration, eliminating routine and corruption, and generally modernizing government institutions.
He stated, "We will shortly announce a new phase of digitizing the institutions' affairs," and also acknowledged that "all of these efforts have achieved significant progress based on internal capabilities and foreign consultation."
Furthermore, ways to advance the reform initiatives in the Peshmerga forces and, in addition, the political situation in the Kurdistan Region, as well as relations between Erbil and Baghdad, were also discussed. Qubad Talabani emphasized the significance of communication in resolving political conflicts in order to protect the interests of all parties.
