Qubad Talabani and Turkish Consul General's meeting in Erbil
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani stated: "The elections should not be postponed any longer and should be planned fairly and take into account the rights of all communities."
Qubad Talabani met with Mehmet Mevlut Yakut, the Turkish Consul General for the Kurdistan Region, in Erbil, where they talked about recent political developments.
Before discussing political events in the Kurdistan Region and relations between Erbil and Baghdad, Qubad Talabani first offered the Turkish Consul his condolences on the occasion of the recent earthquake tragedy that affected various cities across the country.
"It is no secret that there are political issues and that they have had a detrimental effect on the situation in the Kurdistan Region generally," the Deputy Prime Minister stated in reference to the internal situation in the region, referring to today's meeting between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Kurdistan Democratic Party election teams, which was proposed by PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
