Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
On Sunday, April 4, 202, Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), shared a statement regarding the Oil and Paris Court’s ruling.
"Following the Paris Court's ruling and the suspension of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, it is time to make the right decision for the future of our country and to avoid serious issues and crises," said President Bafel.
The PUK President's message said:
Following the Paris Court's ruling and the suspension of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through Turkey, it is time to make the right decision for the future of our country and to avoid serious issues and crises.
SOMO should sell the Kurdistan Region's oil, and the total oil sales throughout Iraq should go to one treasury.
The Kurdistan Region's share in the Iraqi budget and revenue should be determined and the salaries of employees and pensioners of the Region should be guaranteed.
The gasoline, oil, and diesel systems in the Kurdistan Region should be connected to those in Iraq and sold to the people at the same price.
The Kurdistan Region should be represented in SOMO and the entire Iraqi oil and gas system and be part of the management and decision-making.
For years, the PUK has sought to resolve the dispute by coming to an agreement with Baghdad. Coordination and collaboration are key components of right thinking, not avoiding and aggravating issues. Internal conflicts and individuality weaken our entity and put our Region at risk, not cooperating and fighting for our rights in Baghdad.
For the honor and prosperity of Kurdistan, the PUK shed a river of blood, and we believe that no force or party is more dedicated to Kurdistan and the realization of its best interests than ourselves. Consequently, reaching a deal with Baghdad and securing our rights is the sensible and responsible course of action.
