Regarding the improvement of governance, Qubad Talabani stated: "In order to develop the Kurdistan Region, we must leverage the advanced experience of foreign nations in order to have better and more effective governance in order to serve the citizens."
Regarding natural resource management, the Deputy Prime Minister stated: "We are in favor of better management of natural resources in a manner that benefits all communities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region without discrimination; therefore, we must first meet domestic demand before considering exports."
He emphasized: "We cannot rely solely on oil as a source of revenue; we must also focus on and develop other sectors, including agriculture, tourism, industry, and the private sector in general."
During the meeting with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, the two parties discuss the most recent political, economic, and security developments. Qubad Talabani stated that he continues his efforts to improve the governance process in the Kurdistan Region and that "This Forum is the best opportunity to benefit from the experience of other countries."
In addition, they discussed ways to benefit from advanced experiences and how to accomplish balance, reorganization, and management of natural resources. In this regard, Qubad Talabani stated: "The Kurdistan Region must diversify its sources of income. As we have seen in the past, relying solely on oil has led to financial difficulties and economic instability for us."
