Iraqi President receives newly appointed ambassadors' credentials

On Monday, May 15, 2023, Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received the credentials of the newly appointed non-resident ambassadors to Iraq.

The new ambassadors included, Uruguayan ambassador, Mr. Nelson Temil  Chaben Labadie, Belgian ambassador, Mr. Serge Dickschen,  Thai Ambassador, Mr. Supark Prongthura, Irish Ambassador, Mrs. Marianne Bolger, Cuban Ambassador, Alberto Gonzalez Caslas, Mexican Ambassador, Mr. Luis Alfonso DE Alba, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Luong Quoc Huy, Ambassador of Dominican Republic, Mr. Georges Bash Hazim, Latvian Ambassador, Mr. Juris Poikans and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, Ramunas Davidonis.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein attended the welcoming ceremony, which was held at the Baghdad Palace.

President Rashid welcomed his guests and expressed Iraq's delight for the ongoing bilateral relations, as well as for forging deeper cooperation to advance relations, which would be in both countries' interests, while individually meeting with the ambassadors.

He continued by saying that it is crucial to continue the fight against terrorism and extremism while also making international efforts to address economic difficulties and combat climate change.

President Rashid wished the Ambassadors all the best and every success in discharging the tasks entrusted to them, so as to underpin the friendly relations and cooperation.

In addition, he emphasized Iraq's dedication to helping foreign diplomatic missions do their jobs in Iraq in a way that would improve relations between Iraq and their states.

The Ambassadors expressed thanks and appreciation for President Rashid's enthusiasm to support them in carrying out their missions in Iraq and showed their countries' eagerness to further develop relations with Iraq across all sectors.
