Qubad Talabani: We Support Fair Elections

During his meeting with the Organizational Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Qubad Talabani stated, "The PUK has an outstanding standing, which is why we are always expected to be better. So that this happens, we will reorganize and support fair and open elections."

 

We shall carry out President Bafel's plans

Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of President Mam Jalal's Secretariat Bureau, addressed the latest political changes and developments, as well as the internal position of the PUK, during a meeting conducted on July 2, 2023, in Sulaymaniyah, in the presence of Sarkawt Zaki, the Head of the Organization Bureau.

First, Sarkawt Zaki described the work and activities of the Organizational Bureau, including the challenges they face, stating, "We have planned and prepared for how to adapt to this new stage in a way that meets the expectations of party cadres and the people."

Furthermore, he highlighted, "We will implement President Bafel Talabani's plans and policies to better manage the PUK."

 

Qubad Talabani: The organizing committee is the heart of the party

Qubad Talabani continued to state: "We will adjust our method of operation to suit the current circumstances, and for this, we will need the efforts and courage of everyone. The organizing committee, which has significant influence over the party's bodies and the execution of its work program, is described as the "heart of the party." 

"The PUK has not changed its policies and principles, and it has always supported financial justice and a healthy relationship with Baghdad," he added.

"The PUK is the architect of federalism in Iraq and the builder and protector of the structure of the Kurdistan Region and its achievements," he continued. "This is the only way to serve the citizens and protect the constitutional rights of the Kurdish people."

 

Qubad Talabani: We are in favor of internal unity

Qubad Talabani stressed: "We were never in favor of postponing the elections, and now that all preparations have been made, the elections must be held. We support holding fair and transparent elections, and the rights of all communities must be protected." 

Regarding the PUK's relationships with political parties, Qubad Talabani emphasized: "We are in favor of internal unity, and we have always said that we must have very excellent relations with the parties. However, this does not imply that the parties' policies should be identical. The PUK is working on enforcing its own policy, which has the support of all levels of the organization.”
