President Bafel: We Welcome Efforts to Unite Peshmerga Forces

PUK President's meeting with a number of commanders and senior officers of the military units
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with several commanders and senior officers of the military units at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Counter-Terrorism Group.
Shallaw Kosrat Rasul, Burhan Saeed Sofi, members of the Political Bureau, Wasta Rasul, the leader of the Peshmerga Organization Headquarters, and Lieutenant Colonel Omar Salih, the Chief of Staff of the 70th Forces, were present at the meeting, where they discussed the security situation and the procedures to organize and strengthen the Peshmerga forces, and they emphasized the need to coordinate efforts to achieve this national goal.
President Talabani briefed the attendees on the most recent initiatives and decisions to reform, reorganize, continue training, and enhance the Peshmerga forces' military and intelligence capabilities. He stated that all efforts are being made to reform the forces and prepare them under a new structure in order to create a powerful national force that is a true protector of national interests.
He said, "We welcome efforts to unite the Peshmerga forces on the principles of justice, equality, and the balance of power, and we reject any goals that fall short of this high goal." As a result, all leaders and officers of the Peshmerga forces are required to do their jobs with the utmost loyalty."
President Bafel highlighted the importance of military and security forces cooperating and coordinating with one another in order to maintain security and stability. "All armed forces and security personnel must cooperate, coordinate their efforts, perform their duties within the confines of the law, and safeguard the lives of the citizens," he added.
In addition to in-depth discussions, crucial decisions were made regarding border security, Peshmerga force reinforcement, and the fight against terrorism.
