The city of Sulaymaniyah
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, extends his congratulations on Sulaymaniyah's 239th founding anniversary.
President Bafel's full statement:
Today marks the 239th anniversary of the founding of Sulaymaniyah, which we celebrate joyfully and affectionately. We honor a city that has pioneered sacrifice, free thought, culture, and creativity, as well as rewritten history with pride.
Sulaymaniyah's rich history and past demonstrate that the city has consistently resisted oppression and injustice at various times and that its selfless citizens have fought for freedom and prosperity. This vibrant and rebellious spirit is regenerated frequently and will never fade.
Sulaymaniyah has always been resilient, powerful, and influential, as evidenced by the ruggedness of its mountains and the daily bravery and wisdom of its citizens. The people who, through their free and innovative thinking, have always been willing to fight for Kurdistan as a whole and advance the nation's destiny toward light and democracy.
Sulaymaniyah has proven to be a city of struggle and sacrifice, as well as one of innovation and culture. As a result, everyone must understand that Sulaymaniyah rejects grand speeches and slogans and must be served through action.
May peace be upon the souls of all those who have fought for Sulaymaniyah's development, protection, and reconstruction in the past. We also extend our gratitude and affection to those who strive for a brighter future.
Bafel Jalal Talabani,
President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan
