The Iraqi First Lady, Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, participated in the return ceremony of the remains of 41 Yazidi martyrs in Sinjar (Shingal). Following their identification, the bodies were returned to their families and laid to rest.
Ronzi Ziad, the Head of Immigration Committee in Iraqi parliament, informed PUKMEDIA: "After conducting DNA testing and identification, the remains of 41 Yazidi martyrs were repatriated to their homes in a ceremony that took place in Baghdad two days ago. Today, on Wednesday, they will be handed over to their families and laid to rest in the martyrs' cemetery in Sinjar."
"Another 3,000 additional women, children, and men are still missing, while another 1,500 Yazidi girls kidnapped by ISIS remain missing," she further said.
Yazidis are PUK Faction's Priority"The PUK faction in the Iraqi parliament has requested that these individuals be officially recognized as martyrs, enabling their relatives to obtain their rights through the martyrdom status and receive compensation," she added, "A significant number of the relatives of these martyrs have been displaced and have lost their homes."
Another 500 Corpses are in Baghdad's Forensic Medicine Dept.ISIS terrorists launched an assault on the Sinjar district on August 3, 2014, forcing many residents, primarily Yazidis, to seek refuge in the Sinjar mountains due to the terrorists' brutal actions. A portion of them became captured by ISIS terrorists, resulting in the martyrdom of numerous individuals. Several of them are still missing.
At the moment, there are 500 corpses of Yazidi individuals being held in the forensic medical department of Baghdad. DNA testing is being carried out to determine their identities, after which they will be returned to Sinjar.
