The four-day conference of the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Foreign Relations Office is scheduled to commence tomorrow, with a significant number of consuls, diplomats, and overseas government officials expected to attend.
KRG is reorganizing its foreign relations
Daban Shadala, Deputy Head of the KRG's Foreign Relations Office, informed PUKMEDIA that the KRG's third foreign relations conference will take place, with participation from the Prime Minister and his deputy, and will last four days.
"The objective of the conference is to restructure the diplomatic efforts of the KRG in line with the present stage and establish a strategic plan for the representations, while also focusing on and strengthening diplomatic relations with countries," stated Daban Shadala.
Consuls of countries will participate
There are 41 consulates and diplomatic officials from various countries in the Kurdistan Region. This list includes two consulates from Africa, two from the United States, ten from Asia and the Pacific, twenty from Europe, and seven from the Middle East. All of these consulates will attend the Foreign Relations conference, which is scheduled for tomorrow, January 28, 2024.
"The conference will address a variety of diplomatic issues, including the economy, trade, and investment. The relevant parties from the KRG will be in attendance," Shadala stated.
"The KRG prioritizes diplomatic relations to exert influence over trade, the economy, investment, and agriculture sectors. "This serves as an incentive to attract investment to the Kurdistan Region," he added.
Diplomats representing KRG overseas will participate in the conference
The KRG has established 14 diplomatic offices in Asia, Europe, and the Arab world to strengthen and broaden Kurdish diplomatic relations with other countries.
Shadala views the phase of establishing diplomatic ties between the Kurds and the KRG as critical, stating: "The conference will thoroughly examine the strategy and advancement of diplomatic relations, to institutionalize this conference as a diplomatic tradition for self-governance."
"The conference will primarily focus on security concerns, drone risks and difficulties, seeking diplomatic resolutions, and mastering the art of effective communication," he stated.
According to information obtained from PUKMEDIA, 41 consuls, many diplomats, representatives from international agencies, and 14 KRG representatives are expected to attend the conference tomorrow.
