PUK, Gorran: Kurdistan Parliamentary Elections Must No Longer Be Delayed

PUK and Gorran Movement's meeting.
A meeting took place on Sunday, February 11, 2024, between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Gorran Movement, with the presence of Mustafa Sayed Qadir and Qubad Talabani.
The meeting was convened with the aim of consolidating and harmonising the perspectives and stances of the political parties regarding the resolution of political and economic challenges in Kurdistan, as well as countering the threats facing the Kurdistan Region.
Qubad Talabani extended his congratulations to the Gorran Movement at the start of the meeting and sent his well wishes for their successful conference. Following a discussion on the political and economic conditions in the Kurdistan Region, both parties reached a consensus on the necessity for the PUK and Gorran to collaborate with other political factions in Kurdistan to establish unity and solidarity in addressing critical matters.
The discussion also revolved around the topic of the parliamentary elections in Kurdistan. Both parties reached a consensus that further delay is unnecessary and that elections should be promptly conducted.
During the discussion, the topic of salaries for employees of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) was addressed. Both parties reached a consensus that it is crucial for all parties involved to collaborate in order to prevent the blending of the Kurdistan Region's financial rights with political matters.
Furthermore, it was decided to improve coordination in order to achieve better governance that more effectively meets the needs of the people.
