Read President Bafel's full message below:
Happy International Women's Day to all Kurdish women, and we send our heartfelt greetings to the mothers of the martyrs and thank them for their patience and resistance.
Kurdish women have made significant historical contributions to the Kurdish people's struggles and revolutions. We are deeply grateful and indebted to them for their extraordinary courage and resilience, and we honour their memory with great pride.
Kurdish women have demonstrated courage and a progressive mindset in their struggle for rights and freedoms. They have made numerous sacrifices to promote social equality and combat gender discrimination, and they now hold positions of influence in various sectors of society, actively participating in decision-making.
The PUK has consistently supported women and takes great pride in this. Given its historical role as a defender and enforcer of their rights, we will prioritise and facilitate their participation in our parties and centres, allowing them to actively participate in all aspects of society.
We have made a commitment and emphasise that infringing on women's rights and liberties is an absolute limit, and we will not allow their rights to be revoked under any circumstances or justification.
