PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), expressed his endorsement of the rulings made by the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court in a message. He emphasised that the Federal Supreme Court is an autonomous and proficient institution that plays a vital role in safeguarding Iraq's political system. Furthermore, he reiterated his support for the court's decisions.
President Bafel's message said:
The independence of the court is a fundamental cornerstone of democratic systems and governance procedures in advanced countries. Ensuring the establishment and enforcement of the law and fairness are the fundamental elements of maintaining political and social stability, which safeguard the entitlements of individuals and the community in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
We strongly affirm our endorsement of the Federal Court's decisions and its crucial role in safeguarding the constitution, justice, and democratic system. Additionally, we firmly denounce any form of defamation or mistreatment directed at the Federal Supreme Court. This court operates independently and professionally, actively contributing to the preservation of Iraq's political system. Safeguarding independence lies at the core of its constitutional and national obligations.
The Iraqi judiciary is renowned for its independence, and the recognition and preservation of this independence is indicative of societal advancement. It is a crucial element in ensuring that individuals experience stability, security, peace, and the protection of their rights.
Let us collaborate to enhance the principles of seeking legal redress and unwavering adherence to the law, while promoting the independence and fairness of the judiciary, a cause that President Mam Jalal has been instrumental in solidifying under the Iraqi Constitution.
Bafel Jalal Talabani
President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan
