The head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction in Iraqi Parliament announced that they have raised the matter of resolving the blockade on Sulaymaniyah Airport with the Iraqi Prime Minister and requested that he address it during his meeting with the Turkish President.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Baghdad on Monday, April 22, 2024 and is scheduled to also visit Erbil. The PUK faction in the Iraqi Parliament views this visit as significant for discussing shared political, economic, and security matters.
Harem Kamal Agha, the head of the PUK faction in the Iraqi parliament, emphasised the significance of Iraq enhancing its relations with neighboring nations, particularly given the current instability in the region. He highlighted that the Turkish President will engage in discussions with the Iraqi President and Prime Minister on various political, economic, and security matters.
"Our faction recently held a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister, during which we formally requested him to address the issue of lifting the blockade on Sulaymaniyah Airport with the Turkish president during his visit to Iraq," stated Kamal Agha.
