The following is PUK President's message:
On the occasion of International Labour Day, I extend warm congratulations to the workers of Kurdistan and express my sincere wishes for their well-being and improved quality of life.
The Kurdistan workers have significantly contributed to the restoration and development of the Kurdistan Region and are a crucial cornerstone of our society in our efforts to create a more promising future. We hold their position and efforts in high regard and commend their diligent work, while also paying tribute to the workers who lost their lives while on duty.
The PUK was born out of the workers' movement. The glorious heritage of sovereignty and sacrifice is something that it has not forgotten and is proud to be a part of yours. The PUK is obligated to fight for your rights and improve your lives.

Qubad Talabani: We enforce workers' rights by cooperating with private sector
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani extends his congratulations to workers on International Labour Day and affirms their commitment to collaborate with the private sector and stakeholders in order to enforce the legal entitlements of workers.
The following is DPM Talabani's message:
May 1 serves as an opportunity to not only extend congratulations to workers, but also to urge the government, private sector, employers, and other stakeholders to strengthen workers' rights and enhance working conditions in Kurdistan.
Previously, we have made efforts to enhance the rights and economic well-being of workers by making amendments to applicable laws and foreign labor guidelines.
Nevertheless, we have concerns over the current condition of the labor market and acknowledge the hard challenges and obstacles that have exacerbated the hardships faced by workers. Despite the shortcomings, certain workers lack knowledge of their legal entitlements, and there is negligence on the part of the relevant authorities in informing and safeguarding workers' rights.
Hence, in our endeavor to modify existing laws or establish new rules and regulations, we collaborate with the private sector and stakeholders to enforce the legal rights of workers.
Wishing you a joyful International Labour Day
Qubad Talabani
Deputy Prime Minister
PUK Politburo: Kurdistan Workers have played a leading role in the national struggle
The Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) extends its congratulations to all workers and emphasizes that the workers of Kurdistan have played a leading role in the national struggle and the Kurdish movement, making significant sacrifices.
The following is PUK Politburo's statement:
On the occasion of May 1, International Labour Day, we extend sincere congratulations to all the workers of Kurdistan.
Annually, workers globally commemorate this day by engaging in diverse activities to attain and safeguard their rights. In Kurdistan, workers, organized via various organizations and syndicates, have played a significant role. However, during the Ba'ath regime, they were subjected to persecution, detention, torture, and death on multiple occasions.
The workers of Kurdistan have played a leading role in the national struggle and the Kurdish movement, making significant sacrifices, including their lives.
The PUK has consistently advocated for the protection of achieved rights, social security, job creation, and operational safety and has consistently supported the professional struggle of workers and is committed to strengthening the principles of modern labor law in Iraq and Kurdistan, with the aim of enhancing the well-being and welfare of workers.
