The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) decided to exclude some candidates from the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections due to their non-compliance with the registration and certification guidelines.
The IHEC said in a statement that four candidates have been disqualified from participating in the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections by the Board of Commissioners of the IHEC.
The candidates, Helin Akram, Hemn Omar, Saman Mahmoud, and Diyari Hidayat, were disqualified due to their violation of the registration and approval guidelines for candidates.
Emad Jamil, the Head of the IHEC media team, informed PUKMEDIA that the Board of Commissioners has also decided to notify political parties of their replacement within a maximum of 3 days from the date of notification. However, this rule does not apply to candidate Helin Akram, as she is running as an individual candidate.
He also added: "Helin Akram has been dismissed as an independent candidate, while Hemn Omar, Saman Mahmoud, and Diyari Hidayat are running as candidates for the New Generation party in the Sulaimani constituency."
According to a reliable source who informed PUKMEDIA: "Two out of the three disqualified candidates from the New Generation party lack biometric voting cards, and one of them is a voter from the disputed areas (Kurdish areas outside the Kurdistan Region) who is unable to participate in the Kurdistan parliamentary elections as per the law."
Previously, the IHEC had set a 15-day deadline for the nomination of candidates for the sixth parliamentary elections in Kurdistan. However, currently, there are only 10 days left, with only five days remaining for the candidates to register their names, leaving no room for any further modifications.
