The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is currently continuing. The head of the Elections Board of the Kurdistan Region, associated with the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), has declared that the elections will conclude at precisely 6 PM, after which the voter turnout will be disclosed.
Nabard Omar, head of the Elections Board of the Kurdistan Region, said in a press conference: "The allegations regarding issues with the voting machines are false; however, certain citizens' fingerprints are not readable by the devices. Citizens use potatoes so that their fingerprints can be read. Nonetheless, we persist in addressing the issue of fingerprints for all residents possessing voting cards."
"The electoral process will persist until 6 PM, and any individual possessing a voting card is eligible to vote. The voter turnout was recorded at 31% by 12 PM, and the final turnout will be disclosed at 6 PM following the conclusion of the process," he stated.
"All the complaints and documents submitted to the IHEC will be investigated by the commissioners and then the commission will decide, but in general, the process is going well so far," Omar said.
The voting process began at 7:00 am today and the turnout has reached 31% by noon and is scheduled to end at 6:00 pm.
