Seminar on Kurds' Genocide to be Presented at ICC Assembly State Parties

A seminar titled "Residual Impacts of Genocide & Chemical Warfare in Iraqi Kurdistan" is set to be held at the 23rd session of the Assembly of States Parties of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, focusing on the genocide of the Kurds.

The seminar agenda, shared with PUKMEDIA, notes that the Kurdish Organisations Network Coalition for the International Criminal Court (KONCICC), in collaboration with various genocide-focused organisations, is organising a seminar titled "." This event will occur within the context of the 23rd Assembly of States Parties of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, and will feature participation from judges, lawyers, writers, activists, and victims of genocide and chemical attacks.

The seminar has been prepared by Ali Mahmoud and is managed by Hemn Hasib, as per the agenda. An exhibition documenting the genocide of the Kurdish people, organised by photographer Bast Abdul Jabbar, will also be showcased throughout the assembly's duration.

The following subjects will be discussed at the seminar:

-Hama Hama Salih will examine the impact of chemical weapons used during the Anfal operations in Iraqi Kurdistan from 1987 to 1988.

-Abbas Hamza Khidr, a retired judge of the Supreme Iraqi Criminal Tribunal, will delineate the criteria for a fair trial as observed in the conduct of the Supreme Iraqi Criminal Tribunal.

-Ayad Kakeyi, a volunteer lawyer, shall showcase the endeavours of chemical weapons victims in Halabja to hold accountable the firms responsible for making the chemical weapons.

- Dara Mohammed Ali Salih will present "Survived but I was almost buried Alive."

-Obed Mohammed Daud Shwan, an agricultural activist, will depict the historical context and potential solutions to the land issues faced by Kurdish and Turkmen farmers in Kirkuk.

- Lawyer Ramziya Mohammed Salih Jabari and activist Maryam Karim Fatah will advocate against the marriage of nine-year-old girls in Iraq as an international crime.
