President Mam Jalal: An International Scientific Conference on His Historical Influence & Contributions

The University of Sulaymaniyah, in collaboration with the President Jalal Talabani Foundation (PJTF) and various other universities, is organising the inaugural international scientific conference dedicated to President Jalal Talabani under the theme “President Mam Jalal... Historical Facts and Positions”.
The event, which will be overseen by Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir Ismail, the PJTF Chairman, and Dr. Kosar Muhammad Ali, the President of the University of Sulaymaniyah, is scheduled to take place on 3rd and 4th October 2025 in the conference hall at the University of Sulaymaniyah, coinciding with the anniversary of the passing of the nation’s late President Mam Jalal.
The conference will cover nine scientific sections focusing on:
- The biography of President Jalal Talabani
- The late President’s political, intellectual, and revolutionary dimensions
- His role in establishing and reinforcing the rule of law
- His political influence in advancing women’s issues and rights
- The positive impact of President Talabani on stability and political balance in Kurdistan and Iraq
- His contributions to education and higher education
- His efforts in securing the national rights of the Kurds across the four parts of Kurdistan, as well as the rights of nationalities and minorities in Iraq
- His role in advocating for freedom of expression, human rights, media freedom, and press freedom in Kurdistan
- His legacy in the political sphere and public diplomacy

- 16/02/2025: Conference announcement
- 01/04/2025: Final date for receiving research abstracts
- 15/04/2025: Announcement of accepted abstracts
- 01/08/2025: Last date for submission of full research papers
- 03-04/11/2025: Conference at the University of Sulaymaniyah – Conference Hall
It is important to note that the conference will be managed by seven different committees.
