Iraqi President, Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid.
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, issued a statement on the occasion of the Newroz and Kurdish New Year holidays.
The following is the text of the statement:
On the occasion of Newroz, I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Kurdish people and all communities across Iraq. May this beloved celebration bring joy, peace, and prosperity to our nation, reinforcing harmony and solidarity throughout our homeland.
The lighting of the Newroz fire symbolises heroism, sacrifice, and the triumph of justice over oppression. It marks the beginning of a new era, embodying renewal, resilience, and hope as we welcome the New Year.
Beyond its cultural significance, Newroz reminds us of our shared commitment to unity, progress, and a brighter future for all.
As we celebrate, I reaffirm the importance of national unity and encourage all political forces to work together to strengthen social cohesion, uphold democratic values, and protect human rights and freedoms.
Preserving our nation’s hard-earned achievements requires steadfast support for constitutional institutions and the legislative, judicial, and executive authorities, ensuring continued development and stability.
I extend my warmest greetings to all Iraqis and to those around the world celebrating Newroz. May this occasion bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to all.
Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid
President of the Republic of Iraq
