Iraqi Parliament.
The Iraqi parliament is set to hold a session on Monday, 24 March 2025, after about 50 days of suspension due to disputes over the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF or as locally known, 'Hashd Al-Shaabi') Bill.
"The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to meet on Monday, 24 March 2025, to hold the first reading of the 18-article PMF bill," Dr. Biryar Rashid, a member of the Iraqi parliament from the PUK bloc, told PUKMEDIA.
"There are disputes among the Arab bloc regarding the bill, which is why the parliament has suspended its sessions for nearly 50 days, but we as Kurdish factions are not part of this problem," he said.
The leaders of the ruling Coordination Framework are divided on the PMF Service and Pension Bill; some support its early passage, while others have criticisms because the bill calls for the retirement of 4,000 PMF officers and commanders.
