PUK President: We Can Better Serve Our People Via Unity

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), congratulated the people of Halabja after the Iraqi Parliament passed the Halabja Provincialisation Bill on Monday, 14 April 2025, where he reaffirmed his commitment to serving the province and its people.
 
The PUK President's message said:
 
This is a historic day, and I am thrilled with delight, together with the proud people of Halabja, as we have achieved one of the goals we have been striving for years to ease some of our people's suffering.
 
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of the individuals and parties that worked tirelessly to provincialise Halabja and who have previously made tremendous efforts to make this historic decision a reality.
 
Provincialising Halabja reminds us that we all share a common destiny and a shared history filled with sacrifices and pride. It also gives us hope that we can better serve our people through our unity and solidarity.
 
The honourable people of Halabja deserve the highest rewards and services, and I assure you that, as we have done in the past, we will continue to defend your rights.
 
For us, Halabja represents hope for our future and President Mam Jalal advised us to do everything in our power for Halabja. Transforming it into a province will expand our responsibilities. The time has come to serve the beloved people of Halabja with sincerity, dedication, and as one team through projects and practical steps.
