The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Thursday that the number of voters registered using biometric data has surpassed 21 million, while over one million individuals have updated their information.
Jumana al-Ghalai, the IHEC spokesperson, told PUKMEDIA: “The number of biometrically registered voters has reached 21,024,066,” adding that “a total of 1,641,128 voters have updated their data.”
She explained that poll worker roles are primarily aimed at government employees, university and institute students, as well as diploma-holding graduates.
According to al-Ghalai, eligible applicants must have been born in 1970 or later and possess at least a middle school certificate. Graduates are required to hold a diploma and a valid voter card and reside in the same governorate in which they wish to work.
She added that candidates must not have been subject to disciplinary action by the IHEC, must not be related to any candidate, must not fall under the provisions of the Accountability and Justice Law, and must have no felony convictions.
Applications for poll worker roles will be submitted electronically via a link that the IHEC is expected to release soon.
