The 12‑day conflict between Iran and Israel, which concluded today, resulted in more than 6,500 fatalities and injuries on both sides.
Israeli air strikes on Iran, launched on 13 June, claimed at least 610 civilian lives and injured over 4,700, according to updated figures from Iran’s Health Ministry on Tuesday, 24 June. Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour wrote on X: “Over the past 12 days, hospitals have been confronted with extremely harrowing scenes,” stressing that the toll refers to civilian victims.
Among the Iranian dead were 13 children—the youngest merely two months old—as well as five healthcare workers killed in Israeli strikes. Additionally, seven hospitals and nine ambulances suffered damage.
On the Israeli side, official ambulance service statistics reported 28 dead and over 1,300 wounded during the conflict. Iran also lost several senior military figures, including its Chief of Staff and a Revolutionary Guards commander, particularly during the initial Israeli strikes. A number of high-ranking nuclear scientists central to its nuclear programme were also killed.
Moreover, Iranian nuclear facilities, notably the Fordow site, were reportedly damaged or partly destroyed by strikes, including those by the US. Both nations incurred considerable economic losses and infrastructural damage.
