Sulaymaniyah International Airport announced on Thursday, 18 July 2025, that Iranian airline Mahan Air has resumed its scheduled flights, following a temporary suspension caused by recent security tensions in the region.
Dana Mohammed, spokesperson for the airport’s media and public relations department, told PUKMEDIA: “According to the schedule provided by Mahan Air, the airline has resumed its regular flights to and from Sulaymaniyah Airport as of today.”
He added that flights will now operate weekly, at designated times, between Tehran and Sulaymaniyah, starting from 18 July 2025.
Air traffic across the region had been disrupted since 13 June, following the outbreak of military hostilities between Israel and Iran. The closure of regional airspace lasted for 12 days, during which civil aviation was suspended across several countries.
While most nations reopened their skies soon after a truce was reached, Iran was comparatively slower to restore flight operations. The resumption of Mahan Air services to Sulaymaniyah marks a significant step in returning to normal air traffic patterns in the region.
