Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Andrew Bizley, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting, which was also attended by Shalaw Kosrat Rasul, focused on the latest political and economic developments. Both sides stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation among all parties in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to address ongoing challenges.
A key topic of discussion was the recent understanding reached between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government. President Bafel said: “We went to Baghdad representing the Kurdish people and held discussions with the relevant parties to secure an agreement on the disbursement of salaries, as public sector employees are facing real hardship.” He added, “Now that implementation is due, I sincerely hope no obstacles will arise and that oil exports will resume without delay.”
President Talabani reaffirmed the PUK’s commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue, stating that their ongoing efforts are aimed at safeguarding the constitutional rights of public employees.
