Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with Peshmerga Minister Shoresh Ismail to reaffirm the importance of unified defence efforts between the Kurdistan Region and federal forces.
Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with Shoresh Ismail, the Kurdistan Region's Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, on Sunday, 21 July 2025, at Baghdad Palace to discuss recent security developments across Iraq, with a particular focus on the Kurdistan Region.
President Rashid emphasised the need to enhance the readiness and operational capabilities of the Peshmerga forces. He called for deeper coordination and broader joint operations with the Iraqi Army and national security institutions to reinforce stability and security throughout the country.
Minister Ismail thanked the President for his continued support and guidance, reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to protecting the Kurdistan Region and contributing to Iraq’s wider security framework.
