Qubad Talabani Reaffirms Support for Strengthening Women’s Role in Society

Qubad Talabani, Head of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal, met on Sunday, 3 August 2025, with Leyla Abdullah, Secretary and newly appointed Executive of the Kurdistan Women Union (KWU).
During the meeting, Talabani congratulated Abdullah and the incoming leadership team, expressing his hope that under their stewardship the organisation would continue to grow and advance the cause of women in the Kurdistan Region.
Reflecting on the KWU’s three decades of service and activism, Talabani urged the Union to adapt to evolving societal dynamics and to work diligently to enhance the role and status of women across all sectors of society and within public institutions.
He also reaffirmed his full support for the new leadership of the KWU, stating: "The Kurdistan Women Union was founded to pursue a noble and vital mission. We will continue to support all efforts aimed at promoting and strengthening this organisation and the rights of women."
