PUK President’s meeting with DEM delegation in Sulaymaniyah.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed a senior delegation from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) at the headquarters of the Political Bureau in Sulaymaniyah, which included Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-Chair of the DEM Party; Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP); and Cengiz Çandar and Berdan Öztürk, Members of Parliament for DEM.
In a meeting attended by Dr Jwan Ihsan and Dr Yousif Goran, members of the Political Bureau, along with Salar Lala Sarhad, Head of the Kurdistani Relations Department, the discussion underscored the need for greater coordination and stronger relations between the PUK and the DEM.
President Bafel emphasised the importance of the peace process in North Kurdistan and Türkiye, stating: “We are committed to following the path of President Mam Jalal to promote brotherhood and will intensify our efforts to ensure the success of this process, as it serves the interests of all the nations of the region.”
The reopening of Sulaymaniyah International Airport was also raised, with the DEM delegation hoping it will resume operations soon.
