International Conference to Honour President Mam Jalal on 8th Anniversary of His Passing

On the eighth anniversary of the passing of the late President Mam Jalal, the President Jalal Talabani Foundation, in partnership with the University of Sulaymaniyah, is set to host an international academic conference titled “President Jalal Talabani.”
The conference will begin on Friday, 3 October 2025, coinciding with the anniversary of the late President’s passing, with a series of academic activities held in the University of Sulaymaniyah’s seminar hall. The following day, Saturday, 4 October, will feature practical seminars and workshops.
Over 20 scholarly papers will be presented during the event, focusing on President Mam Jalal’s thought, wisdom, and policies. Key topics include his influential role in the peace process, the reconstruction of Iraq, the promotion of freedom of expression and human rights, and the consolidation of democracy. The conference will also explore his efforts to strengthen relations between China, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, as well as his work in safeguarding coexistence and the rights of diverse communities in Kirkuk Governorate.
The conference will coincide with the opening of the seventh Sulaymaniyah International Book Fair on 3 October, named the President Jalal Talabani Edition to honour the late President’s enduring legacy.
This event provides a platform for scholars, researchers, and policymakers to reflect on President Mam Jalal’s enduring impact on Kurdistan, Iraq, and the broader region.
