Qubad Talabani in Nazanin, Erbil.
Qubad Talabani, campaign supervisor for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) List No. 222 in Erbil Constituency, affirmed that the PUK, under the leadership of President Bafel Jalal Talabani, is determined to address issues directly from Baghdad and will not allow the repetition of past mistakes.
During a visit to the Nazanin district of Erbil Governorate, accompanied by Shalaw Kosrat Rasul, Qubad Talabani was warmly received by PUK members and local residents. He stated, “The PUK is now stronger than ever, and under President Bafel Jalal Talabani’s leadership, it is working to resolve problems from Baghdad. The party will not allow the future of the Kurdistan Region or the wellbeing of its citizens to be placed at risk again through misguided decisions and policies.”
He went on to say, “The weakening of the PUK’s influence in Baghdad and its diminished position in the Kurdistan Region following President Mam Jalal’s illness is an unfortunate truth that cannot be ignored. This period also coincided with a worsening economic situation and a decline in living standards across the Region, as well as a threat to the Region’s very existence due to poor strategic decisions.”
Qubad Talabani stressed, “Let it be clear that the PUK remains a party that stands by its word. Just as it once maintained the balance of power, honoured its commitments in Kirkuk, and the formation of a regional government cannot be done without its approval, there is no doubt it will once again fulfil its promises and resolve the Region’s challenges from the capital, Baghdad.”
