Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, received on Sunday, 19 October 2025, Glenn Miles, Australian Ambassador to Iraq, and his accompanying delegation in Erbil.
The meeting focused on relations between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Australia, with both sides emphasising the importance of further strengthening cooperation across various fields. Discussions also covered ongoing reform efforts and the unification of the Peshmerga forces, as well as preparations for the forthcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections.
The two sides also addressed outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad, stressing the need to continue dialogue and negotiations to resolve disputes in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution.
On domestic developments and forming the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the Vice President and Ambassador Miles highlighted the importance of unity among political parties in the Kurdistan Region to ensure the success of the process.
