Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the electoral campaign of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) List 222 in the Erbil constituency, affirmed on Wednesday that all dissenting and discontented voices in the Kurdistan Region ultimately belong to his party. He instructed officials to reach out to these individuals personally and persuade them of the PUK’s sincerity in honouring its commitments and delivering on its obligations in Baghdad.
Speaking at a gathering with Choman and Haji Omaran electoral districts in Erbil, Talabani declared, “The PUK and President Bafel are distinguished by their integrity and steadfastness in fulfilling their promises.” He continued, “We pledged that Baghdad would recognise Halabja as a province — and we delivered. We pledged that the Kurdistan Parliament elections would not be held under the outdated electoral law — and we delivered. We pledged to appoint a Kurdish governor for Kirkuk — and we delivered. We pledged to restore the balance of power — and we delivered. We pledged that no government in the Region would be formed without true partnership, fairness, and the provision of services — and we have remained firm in that position.”
He went on to emphasise that “the dissenting and discontented voices are, in fact, voices of the PUK itself,” urging party members to personally approach such individuals and reassure them that the PUK remains true to its promises and continues to uphold its commitments in Baghdad, assuring that they will never regret supporting the PUK.
