President Bafel Pledges to Turn Kurdistan into the Paradise the People Deserve

In the presence of Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), a large public rally was held on Thursday, 30 October 2025, in the Ranya district of the Raparin administration to introduce the PUK’s candidates on List 222.

During his speech at the rally, which was attended by the PUK’s candidates for the Sulaymaniyah constituency along with thousands of party members, supporters, and local residents, President Bafel Jalal Talabani began by chanting the list number, 222. He also greeted the people of the Bitwen and Pishdar districts, describing the Raparin administration as the green heart of Kurdistan.

President Bafel said: “Thirty-three years ago, the people of this region lit the flame of Kurdish identity, uprising, and the overthrow of dictatorship. A year ago, you lit the flame of reviving the PUK. This year, I call on you once again to rise up and send us to Baghdad with power, so that we can make Kurdistan the paradise our people deserve.”

We Will Not Allow a Government That Fails to Serve Citizens

PUK President added: “The people of this region often ask us why a government has not yet been formed in the Kurdistan Region, even though they voted for us. My answer is this: we listened to your demands, and that is why the government has not been formed. You told us not to allow the formation of a government that does not serve the people, and we responded to your call. You also asked us not to take part in a government where we would be weak or where all regions would not be treated equally. We will never permit the formation of a government that fails to serve all citizens, that steals your money for its own pockets, or that forms militias made up of thieves, corrupt officials, and agents.”

The Peace Process in Türkiye

Regarding the peace efforts in Türkiye, President Bafel said: “President Mam Jalal, using his intellect and wisdom, established the foundations for a peace process between the Kurds and the Turks, not merely through words. Today, a similar approach is being followed in Türkiye. This marks a beginning, and the process will ultimately extend to all four parts of Kurdistan. We will never relinquish our land to occupiers, and this will be achieved through politics, diplomacy, and reason, rather than empty slogans.”

Only the PUK Can Resolve the Salary Crisis

President Bafel Jalal Talabani stated: “What is the main issue facing citizens today? It is salaries, employment, and the cost of living. Who can address this? Undoubtedly, only the PUK—not those who have mismanaged the situation and merely talk on social media, unheard even by their own children. These solutions cannot be found in Erbil alone; you must send a strong PUK delegation and numerous representatives to Baghdad.”

He added: “In the previous parliamentary session, with just 18 seats, we achieved far more than parties holding 30. What did they do for you, for Kirkuk, for the citizens, and for their livelihoods? They could not even solve the salary issue. That is why we aim to fight for you and serve you, and for that, we need more votes and parliamentary seats."

President Bafel further said: "We are your power in Baghdad, and our power comes from you. We will never forsake you, nor allow anyone to harm you, and we will safeguard your dignity as we would our own eyes."

He concluded: “The PUK's List 222 represents martyrs, women, fighters, heroic Peshmerga, disabled veterans, and young people. It is your list.”
