Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received a delegation from the US–Kurdistan Business Council, led by its President, David Tafuri, on Monday, 17 November 2025, to discuss a range of issues of mutual interest.
The meeting, held in Erbil, focused on strengthening trade relations between the United States and the Kurdistan Region. Highlighting the Region’s ongoing economic development, Deputy PM Talabani emphasised that the Kurdistan Region welcomes greater and more effective participation from US companies, noting that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is prepared to provide all necessary support and facilitation.
Oil and gas were also key topics of discussion. Deputy PM Talabani stated: “We support the swift adoption of an oil and gas law in this term of the Iraqi parliament that resolves outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad and respects the constitutional powers and distinct status of the Kurdistan Region.”
He further stressed: “Our priority is to utilise gas for the benefit of the people and to advance industrial and economic infrastructure across Kurdistan.”
