The Forces 70 of the Kurdish Peshmerga reaffirmed their readiness to ensure the success of the Peshmerga reorganisation and unification process.
Senior officers and personel of Forces 70 held a high-level meeting on Monday, 17 November 2025, under the supervision of General Omar Salih Hassan, Commander of Forces 70, at the Shahid Akam Hall in Sulaymaniyah.
According to a statement by the Forces 70's media office, Staff Major General Hassan expressed his gratitude to all commanders, officers, and personnel for their full compliance with the measures of Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) during the recent parliamentary elections. He congratulated the people of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq—particularly the Peshmerga and security forces—emphasising that their disciplined conduct reflected strong adherence to laws and regulations and underscored their essential role in safeguarding the homeland.
The statement added that a significant part of the meeting was dedicated to the ongoing reorganisation and unification of the Peshmerga forces. The Commander reviewed progress to date, identified remaining challenges, and outlined the plans of Forces 70 concerning the formation of regional commands and new Peshmerga divisions. He stressed the importance of adhering to new directives and working diligently to achieve the goals of the unification process.
The meeting concluded with comprehensive discussions among all commanders, who affirmed their full readiness to support and ensure the success of the unification efforts.
