President Trump Pledges to End Middle East Conflicts in Letter to President Rashid

President Rashid welcomes Joshua Harris.
Iraqi President Dr Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received, on Thursday 4 December 2025 at Baghdad Palace, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Iraq, Joshua Harris, who conveyed his condolences on the passing of his brother, the late Shamal Jamal Rashid.
Their meeting discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States, along with opportunities to enhance joint cooperation across various sectors in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly nations. They also reviewed developments at the regional and international levels, stressing the importance of continued coordination in confronting current challenges and contributing to the consolidation of security and stability in the region.
President Rashid extended his appreciation for the letter sent to him by US President Donald Trump on 21 November 2025, which expressed gratitude for Iraq’s role in supporting efforts to advance peace in turbulent areas around the world.
President Trump also requested President Rashid’s continued backing to help secure “a brighter future for our citizens and the world.” In his message, he reaffirmed his commitment to ending centuries of conflict in the Middle East, expressing his hope that the international community will move beyond historic disputes to save lives in every region of the world.
President Rashid welcomed President Trump’s stance, noting that it reflects his own conviction that all conflicts can and should be resolved through dialogue rather than violence. He affirmed his support for all initiatives aimed at achieving stability, cooperation and lasting peace, underlining the importance of collective efforts to build a more secure and harmonious global future.
