Darbaz Kosrat Rasul meets Caitilin Piper.
Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, a member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Relations Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Caitlin Piper, Acting US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, at the PUK Political Bureau headquarters in Erbil on Wednesday, 17 December 2025.
The meeting focused on the situation in the Region and recent political developments. Both sides also discussed the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government.
Darbaz Kosrat said that since the outset of the cabinet formation process, the PUK has consistently stressed the importance of establishing a government based on a balanced approach and a comprehensive programme that serves the people of Kurdistan.
He also reaffirmed that the United States has long been, and continues to be, a key partner and an essential supporter of the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of preserving political and economic stability in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Both sides agreed that continued dialogue is the appropriate means to resolve outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
