Türkiye Welcomes Damascus–SDF Integration Deal, Urges Transparent Implementation

The Turkish Ministry of Defence has welcomed the integration agreement reached between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), stressing the need for its transparent implementation in order to safeguard Syria’s unity.
Speaking at a press conference in Ankara on Thursday, 5 February 2026, Defence Ministry spokesman Zeki Aktürk said Türkiye welcomed the signing of the integration agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF on 30 January. He said Ankara was closely following developments on the ground and reiterated the importance of implementing the agreement in a manner that reinforces Syria’s unity and the principle of “one state, one army”.
Aktürk added that Türkiye expects all steps under the agreement to be carried out transparently and in an atmosphere of mutual trust. He also expressed hope that lasting peace, security and stability, long sought by the peoples of the region, would be achieved in the near future.
