North Oil Company Says Kirkuk Gas Compression Station Fire Under Control

Iraq's North Oil Company announced on Saturday that a fire which broke out near the AB2 station in Kirkuk has been fully contained.
In a statement obtained by PUKMEDIA, the company said the incident occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. near the AB2 gas compression station in the Bajwan area. According to the statement, a technical malfunction led to a gas leak from the metering system, which subsequently ignited and caused a fire adjacent to the station.
The company confirmed that gas sources were immediately isolated and that the fire was brought under control by 5:00 a.m., with no casualties reported.
It added that efforts to restore the pipeline to operation have already begun and that the situation was managed in accordance with approved emergency response plans. Safety and firefighting teams were able to contain the blaze in what the company described as record time, without any loss of life.
The statement concluded by affirming that the situation is fully under control and that all facilities are operating in line with established industrial safety procedures, while necessary measures continue to be taken to ensure the safety of personnel at the site.
