Bafel Jalal Talabani and Qasim al Araji.
Qasim al-Araji, Iraq’s National Security Advisor, sent a message to Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), on the anniversary of the tragic Halabja chemical attack. In his message, he expressed solidarity with the people of the Kurdistan Region and pledged to strengthen joint efforts to ensure that such crimes are never repeated.
The text of the message reads as follows:
My dear brother, Mr Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan,
Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.
On the anniversary of the tragic Halabja massacre, we remember with reverence and respect the souls of the innocent victims who lost their lives in one of the most heinous crimes in modern history. This tragedy has left a profound scar on the memory of Iraq and humanity as a whole, and will remain a stark reminder of the dangers of using prohibited weapons against civilians.
As we mark this painful anniversary, we reaffirm our solidarity with our people in the Kurdistan Region and renew our firm commitment to protecting human life and preserving its dignity, upholding the values of justice, and strengthening joint efforts to prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
Mercy upon the martyrs of Halabja and all the martyrs of Iraq, and may their memory live on in the hearts of Iraqis.
With the highest respect and appreciation,
Your brother, Qasim al-Araji, Iraqi National Security Advisor.
