PUK, Gorran: Current Situation Requires Greater Kurdish Unity

PUK and Gorran Movement meeting in Sulaymaniyah.
A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) received on Saturday, 4 April 2026, a delegation from the Gorran Movement [Change Movement] at the headquarters of the PUK Political Bureau in Sulaymaniyah.
The PUK delegation included Members of the PUK Political Bureau, Dr Yousif Goran and Sarkawt Zaki, Members of the PUK Leadership Council, Jaza Sayed Majid and Dr Salar Sarhad, and Rawand Gharib Haladni, member of the PUK Relations Bureau. The Gorran delegation comprised Diler Abdulkhaliq, Shakhawan Rauf Beg, Choman Mohammed, and Rovan Sarwat.
The meeting opened with congratulations from the PUK on the success of the Gorran Movement’s general congress and its internal reorganisation.
Both sides emphasised the national responsibility and historical duty of all political parties to keep the Kurdistan Region away from the fires of war engulfing the Middle East and to safeguard its status.
They stressed that the current situation requires greater Kurdish unity, harmony, and a unified political stance more than ever before, while reaffirming the importance of avoiding involvement in regional conflicts and protecting the security, peace, and stability of the Kurdistan Region and its citizens.
The meeting also discussed the political process in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as issues related to security, economic stability, and the welfare of citizens.
