PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has issued a message marking the 46th anniversary of the genocide of the Feyli Kurds, stating: “We in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan always stand with our people in their suffering, and our efforts are directed towards turning our painful past into hope and securing a brighter future for our nation.”
President Bafel's message read:
“Today, we mark the 46th anniversary of the genocide of the Feyli Kurds with respect and remembrance. They were killed, forcibly exiled, disappeared, and had their property confiscated simply because they were Kurds under the former Ba’ath regime.
We in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan stand with our people in their suffering. Our efforts are directed towards turning our painful past into hope and securing a bright future for our nation.
We hope that all of us will work together to restore the rights of our Feyli Kurdish brothers and sisters, and to unite our voices so that the Federal Government of Iraq fulfils its legal and constitutional obligations towards the Feyli Kurds and all victims among our people, and provides them compensation in action.”
