Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev.

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev at Baghdad Palace, where he was presented with a message of congratulations from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his assumption of office.

The Iraqi Presidency said in a statement that President Putin extended his congratulations and best wishes to President Amedi, expressing his hope for continued cooperation to further develop Iraqi–Russian relations.

At the outset of the meeting, according to the Iraqi Presidency, President Amedi conveyed his greetings and appreciation to President Putin and the Russian leadership, underscoring the importance of bilateral ties and the need to strengthen cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

The discussions also covered regional and international developments, with both sides emphasising the importance of stepping up efforts to ease tensions, end ongoing conflicts, and promote security and stability.
