Iraqi President Nizar Amedi reaffirms the importance of enabling journalists to perform their duties freely and responsibly.

On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the President, in a post on his social media account, extended his "sincerest congratulations and appreciation to Iraqi journalists who continue to perform their national and professional duties with courage and dedication."

President Amedi stressed "the importance of enabling journalists to perform their duties freely and responsibly, and providing a safe environment and the necessary guarantees for their work, thereby strengthening the role of a free and responsible media in building the nation and consolidating the values of democracy."

He concluded by saying: "On this occasion, we remember with pride and reverence the martyrs of Iraqi journalism who gave their lives for freedom and the truth."
