Prime Minister-Designate Submits Ministerial Agenda for Parliamentary Review.
Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi presented the ministerial programme of the new government to Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi during a meeting held on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister-designate’s media office and received by PUKMEDIA, the programme will be distributed to members of Parliament for review and familiarisation with its contents, while the names of the proposed cabinet ministers will be submitted at a later stage.
The statement noted that both sides stressed “the importance of cooperation and joint coordination in moving forward with granting confidence to the government and its ministerial programme, as it represents the main foundation upon which the government will carry out its responsibilities and duties within constitutional and legal frameworks.”
Meanwhile, a separate statement from Parliament’s media office said the Speaker of Parliament confirmed the legislature’s readiness to set a date for the expected session to vote on the ministerial programme and cabinet once the names proposed by the Prime Minister-designate are submitted.
