The US Envoy Tom Barrack.
The United States Envoy Tom Barrack has congratulated Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on securing parliamentary confidence and receiving formal approval for his government from the Iraqi parliament.
In a statement, Barrack welcomed what he described as a renewed sense of leadership in Iraq, expressing optimism about working closely with the new administration on a forward-looking agenda.
He said Washington and Baghdad share common priorities, including strengthening Iraq’s sovereignty, promoting stability, supporting economic prosperity, and ensuring the country remains at peace with its neighbours. He added that the aim of this cooperation is to deliver greater opportunity and growth for Iraqi citizens through a mutually beneficial partnership with the United States.
Barrack also noted that President Donald Trump, Secretary Marco Rubio, and the US government stand ready to work with the Iraqi leadership to advance shared objectives, particularly economic development and the continued fight against terrorism, which he described as a major obstacle to progress and stability.
