Athens Defence Summit takes place in Greece.
The Slemani Strategic Forum has been highlighted as a key regional partner in this year’s Athens Defence Summit (ADS), which is taking place in Athens on 20–21 May 2026, bringing together senior political leaders, military commanders, national security officials, and defence industry executives from Europe, the United States, Africa, and other strategic regions, including Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The Athens Defence Summit is being held under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, the Hellenic Defence Systems, the Hellenic Aerospace Industry, and Enterprise Greece. It is positioned as an independent, high-level forum dedicated to strategic discussions on defence, deterrence, and the evolving nature of warfare.
The summit provides a platform for decision-makers in the security and defence sectors to engage in substantive dialogue on emerging global challenges. Discussions this year focus on shifting geopolitical dynamics, technological transformation, and the future character of conflict.
The Athens Defence Summit is supported by a select group of strategic partners drawn from government, industry, and policy institutions, reflecting its focus on high-level defence and security dialogue. Among them, the Slemani Strategic Forum plays a notable regional role, engaging in discussions on strategic policy development and cross-border security coordination.
Additionally, plans have been confirmed for a follow-up edition of the summit, scheduled to take place in Sulaymaniyah in November 2026. The event is expected to be organised under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani and managed by the Slemani Strategic Forum.
The Sulaymaniyah edition is expected to focus on regional and international security priorities, continuing the summit’s emphasis on strategic dialogue, defence cooperation, and policy coordination across key geopolitical regions.
